Movie Night at Nevey Shalom

Those of us wh attended our last Cinema Nevey program enjoyed seing the film "Gentleman's Agreement" with Gregory Peck, Dorothy McGuire, Celeste Holm, and John Garfield (all looking as young and beautiful as we remember them). The story is about a reporter who pretends to be Jewish to help him write an article about anti-Semitism. Of course, the attitutes of people around him suddenly change. His family is also affected and his life becomes very complicated.

This movie was the perfect opening for us to have a discussion about anti-Semitism with Rabbi Resnick. Many opinions were voiced.

Of course, refreshments were available - fresh popcorn, potato chips, pretzels - while we were watching the film, and when the lights went on, we had a wonderful very berry parfait. Delicious!

Women's League Education Pavilion Dedication

Ziza Pallia and Barbara Appel represented Nevey Shalom Sisterhood at the dedication of the Women's League Educational Pavilion - the Kripke Tower - at the Jewish Theological Seminary. We have a picture of them pointing to the plaque showing that Nevey Shalom helped build this magnificent pavilion.
