Men's Club News

As I indicated in the last Megillah, the Men's Club is continuing to follow our programmatic, funding, and support practices of the past few years. We will continue to quietly provided support to a variety of activities in the congregational community. We will honor our long-standing commitment to fund half of the cost of the cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen, and we will continue to fund all costs associated with maintenance of the congregational sound system. (As I have indicated before, the sound system includes a wireless microphone system that is available to both the Nevey Shalom and Shaare Tikvah communities, with appropriate notice and without charge.) Similarly, the portable stage system (with appropriate notice), and the circulating videotape library are available, without charge, to all members of the Nevey Shalom and Shaare Tikvah communities.

The Men's Club is working with the congregational Adult Education and Programs Committees by providing funds and assistance (the October 22nd program, for example). The Friday morning Jewish preschool playgroup has been adopted by the Men's Club as a Men's Club project, and we will support it on a continuing basis. We are again bringing to Nevey Shalom a live concert featuring clarinetist/saxophonist Eyal Bor, vocalist/guitarist Becky Gordon and guitarist Bruce Casteel – HOLD THE DATE – SUNDAY, JUNE 13, 2004. Once again, the cost to attendees will be minimal, the entertainment will be exceptional, and the post-entertainment dessert buffet will be catered by Ellen Weiss.

We ask the members of the Men's Club to respond to their dues invoices. We did not have a special fund raising effort last year; so what we did, we basically did out of dues income. We expect the same to be true for 2003-2004.
