Children at the Synagogue

Tot Shabbat Service

Rabbi Resnick is conducting a special Shabbat service for very young children (5 and under) the first Friday of each month. This interactive service involves some discussion of Shabbat topics and short songs and prayers geared toward little ears. Tot Shabbat services run from 6:30pm to 7:15pm, with a small oneg afterward.

Two tot Shabbat services have been held so far – one in November and one in December – have gone very well. These informal gatherings have gone very well. Sitting in a circle with their parents, the children participated in the Rabbi's explanations of Shabbat traditions. The Rabbi also provided song sheets with transliterations. The parents and children sang together and had fun. Several new families with young children came to participate in the service.

If you have any questions, please contact Rabbi Resnick or Marci Ruderman.

Please join us for upcoming Tot Shabbat services:

Monthly Jewish Playgroup

Local Jewish moms and their young children (preschool age) will begin meeting at Nevey Shalom in January for a monthly playgroup. We plan to meet on the last Friday of each month. We will be using one of the classrooms. The first playgroup will be held on January 31, 2003, from 9:30am - 11:30am. If you would like to bring your young child and join us, please call Marci Ruderman, Andrea Hawthorne, or the office for more information.

Youth Services

Once a month, we have Youth Shabbat services at Nevey Shalom. The services are conducted by the youth who attend the Shaare Tikvah Hebrew School. These young people are well-prepared and are doing a wonderful job. Yasher koach!
