Lox 'n Vodka
The Men's Club is bringing Lox & Vodka back,
Saturday, November 6, 2004, 8:00pm.
Lox & Vodka, Washington's widely-acclaimed Klezmer Jewish band - will bring to Nevey Shalom an enchanting,
entertaining, and emotionally enriching ethnic experience. Klezmer music - Jewish soul music - has been around
since the Middle Ages, when itinerant musicians traveled from shtetl to shtetl to play for Jewish weddings and
celebrations. As they traveled, these musicians adopted a wide range of musical idioms, and, in the turn-of-the-century
America, Klezmorim quickly mastered new instruments and new styles. Today, there is a revival of this spiritually-endowed
musical form. Lox & Vodka is a proud part of this inspiring renaissance.
Expect lively, spirit-filled music. Expect to be an active participant in the festivities. Expect to learn
songs and to clap to Klezmer rhythms. Expect to learn folk dances, and expect to do a mean hora!
This program is open to the community. A deluxe dessert buffet will follow the concert.
Cost per person: $18.
Send payment with your name and telephone number to the office. Make checks payable to the Nevey Shalom Men's Club.
For more information, call the office, or George Kessler.
Note: The Social Hall will not be available until 7:45pm. The concert will start promptly at 8:00pm.
